How Does the Heat Pump Grant Work?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme can help reduce the upfront cost of an eligible heat pump installation.

KernowPlumb can discuss the available funding with you and, where applicable, work with our approved supply and installation partners to help you access the relevant Boiler Upgrade Scheme funding.

The process generally involves:

  1. Discuss your requirements – We look at your existing heating system and your property.
  2. Check eligibility – We establish whether your property and proposed heat pump meet the scheme requirements.
  3. Receive your quotation – The applicable grant is taken into account in the cost of the installation.
  4. Grant application – The relevant MCS-certified installer/partner handles the BUS application process.
  5. Installation – Your new heat pump is installed and commissioned.
  6. Grant claimed – Once the scheme requirements have been met, the grant is claimed through the BUS process.

Replacing an Oil or LPG Boiler?

If your home is currently heated by oil or LPG, you may be considering what your options are when your existing boiler needs replacing.

A heat pump could be an alternative worth considering.

Heat pumps work differently from traditional boilers and can provide heating and hot water without burning oil or LPG.

For eligible off-gas-grid properties in England and Wales, replacing a qualifying oil or LPG heating system with an eligible heat pump could also mean you qualify for up to £9,000 of Government funding through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

Is a heat pump right for your home?

That depends on your property, insulation, existing heating system, available space and heating requirements.

KernowPlumb can discuss your circumstances and help you understand whether a heat pump could be a suitable option.
